BC Hydro continues to develop an innovative approach to providing educators with high quality classroom resources. Safety, Conservation and Science, Technology and Innovation are our three education priorities. We are inviting teachers to help us choose future resource development in these key areas – when you and your students participate in activities on FirstWave, the water drops your class collects during the year will inform our development. At the end of the school year, we will convert the water drops into developing resources that support the themes of safety, conservation or science, technology and innovation.

We value your participation in our programs and want to collaborate with you to choose development areas for B.C. classrooms. When you and your students participate in activities on FirstWave, you can choose one of the three themes to support. The water drops your class collects will enhance education development in safety, conservation or science, technology and innovation.

BC Hydro teaches the safe use of electricity at home, in the workplace, in classrooms and in the community. We have safety resources available for download on FirstWave and all of our programs contain information for students and their families on how to stay safe around electricity. Electrical Safety Day is an annual event held in May, where classrooms across the province learn about electrical safety – Down. Danger. Dial.
If you are looking for more electrical safety materials, choose Safety as your education theme.
One of BC Hydro’s key messages is to be smart about power in all we do. BC Hydro works with schools and communities throughout British Columbia to explore sustainability, stewardship and the environment. Throughout our resources, students develop energy efficiency and conservation activities to promote within the school, community and at home.
If you are looking for more resources on how to save energy, be more energy-efficient and look forward to a positive energy future, then select the Conservation education theme.
BC Hydro delivers reliable, clean power to homes and businesses across British Columbia. We have 30 generating stations and more than 75,000 kilometres of transmission and distribution lines that span our province. BC Hydro has a wide range of expertise in the areas of science, technology and innovation. BC Hydro School Programs designs and develops classroom resources that support energy concepts, electricity, electromagnetism, circuitry and physics.
If you would like more materials to support the development of science, technology and innovation in the classroom, then select that theme.
